11 students of the Piano Construction Technical School participated in a training course organized by the Association of Polish Piano Tuners.
The training course "Piano and piano tuning - basics" took place in Kalisz, September 20-22 this year, and was conducted by Szymon Jasnowski, president of SPSF. The participants of the training were students from grades 2-5, including 3 girls.
- Don't be told that you don't fit into this profession. All over the world, half of the tuners are women. It's time and for more women tuners in Poland," the SPSF president addressed three female TBF students at the beginning of the training.
The training began on September 20 (Friday) with participation in a dress rehearsal before the "Welcome Back Adam" concert, in which Adam Makowicz played with the symphony orchestra of the Kalisz Philharmonic. It was held in the auditorium of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts at Adam Mickiewicz University. After the rehearsal, students participated in a demonstration adjustment of mechanism repetition, tuning and intonation of the piano before the concert.
At the end of the first training day, students were able to learn about the construction of the piano and piano mechanism, based on their models. They were able to perform basic adjustment operations on these models.
On the second and third days (September 21-22, Saturday-Sunday), the training was held in the conference room of the Komoda Hotel. 11 TBF students had a Schimmel piano and a Calisia grand piano at their disposal. This was a time where each of them could practice how to tune the piano and the grand piano.
At the end of the training, students received certificates confirming their participation in the training and filled out SPSF supporter questionnaires, so we will be able to send them educational materials.
This was the 10th training that SPSF has organized for TBF students in the past 10 years. During this time, more than 200 students of the Technical School have participated in all the trainings.

- the loan of instruments courtesy of Mr. Pawel Szymkowiak, general director of the Schimmel Pianos piano factory,
- the loan of a conference room in the Komoda Hotel by the hotel owners Margot and Cezary Suszynski,
- the loan of a teaching room and the possibility of demonstration tuning in the building of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts of the Adam Mickiewicz University, courtesy of Mrs. Maria Buzinska, chancellor of the Adam Mickiewicz University.
